DESCRIPTION : The After School Worker will assist therapeutic children with basic subjects taught in school. The primary goal of an After School worker is to maintain a safe, structured therapeutic environment while ensuring a high level of program quality when working to establish positive relationships with all program participants and other staff members.

The After school worker will : 1) implement recommendations given by the supervisor 2) attend meetings when scheduled 3) turn in weekly progress notes;

and 4) work in a team environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT : After school workers spend majority of their time at the building with the exception of a few community outings.

After school workers are assigned a group of children that they work with after school Monday through Friday. After school workers work seventeen and a half hours to twenty five hours a week.

There is one to one attention often required however most of your time will be spent in a group setting.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

2. Participate and encourage positive participation of all students in daily activities and events.

3. Prepare and submit weekly progress notes as required.

4. Attend trainings and regular meetings.

5. Lead organized learning activities students to help develop and strengthen academic, physical and social skills.

6. As needed, differentiate lessons and activities so that they are appropriate to students with various abilities.

7. Review program plans with Supervisor and other staff members for effective program implementation.

8. Instruct students on the safe and proper use of supplies and equipment.

9. Participate in cleaning and maintain the facility.

10. Inspect the surrounding area and equipment for safety hazards; taking corrective action to prevent injuries.

11. Interact professionally and appropriately with clients, parents and staff.

12. Demonstrate the values of caring, respect, honesty, integrity and responsibility in all of your interactions with participants, members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.

13. Follow Together Lives Change policies and procedures as it relates to your position.

14. All other relevant duties assigned by your supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :

At least six months experience working with therapeutic children, valid driver’s license, valid auto insurance policy, in-service cell phone, criminal background check and Tuberculosis clearance.
